The 20th edition of the DaKINO International Film Festival, the very first film festival in Romania, will be running from November 22 to 27 in three cinema halls in Bucharest - Patria, Elvira Popescu and the New Cinema of the Romanian Director, within the Museum of the Romanian Peasant , as well as in other alternative venues.
Romania ranks 18th out of 30 countries listed in the World Bank Migration and Remittances Factbook 2011 (read the report below), with 2.8 million emigrants, close to Indonesia, with 2.5 million. The percentage of emigrants of the total population in Romania is of 13.2 percent. Romania is also among the top remittance-receiving countries, with an estimated USD 4.5 billion for this year, ranking 22nd out of 30 countries.

Experts from the Schengen Area evaluation committee will visit Romania from Monday to Wednesday, to assess the country's progress on air borders, after some European Union member states expressed their skepticism about Romania's capacity to join the Area in March 2011.
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has offered a EUR 10 million credit line to BRD Societe Generale to finance energy efficiency projects in Romania, the bank has announced. The loan is supplementing a similar EUR 10 million credit line offered by the EBRD to BRD in 2008.

Three Arabian airlines and a Turkish one will start operating flights to and from Romania in 2011, according to Romanian publication Capital. Qatar Airways has announced it will run four flights from Doha to Bucharest and return every week next year. Ticket prices will stay around EUR 539 and the flight will take around four hours and a half.
A series of Magyar movie screenings will take place at the National Museum of the Romanian Peasant, in the Horia Bernea studio, from November 14 until November 21. Entry will be free of charge and most of the movies will be subtitled in Romanian- see below complete schedule to see which one will have English subtitles.
Tire producer Pirelli, which will invest EUR 1.9 million by 2015 worldwide, will direct some of the investments in increasing tire production capacities to the new plants in Romania, Mexico and China, the company has recently announced. On the industrial segment, investments will be focused on the steelcord factory in Romania, as well as on the company's subsidiaries in China, Egypt and Russia.
