Update: Man serving 10-year sentence for robbery escapes from prison near Bucharest
A man serving a 10-year sentence for robbery managed to escape from the Jilava prison in Ilfov county, near Bucharest, on Thursday, March 7.
The prisoner was being brought back to prison from work when he managed to escape, local Mediafax reported. He managed to jump several fences and run despite the warning shots fired by the security officers.
He was later stopped by a police patrol that was not informed about the escape. The policemen asked him to identify himself but the man managed to escape once again. Followed by the police officers, the man continued to run and jumped into the yard of a scrap metal warehouse, where the dogs attacked and injured him. That’s where he left a brown jacket behind, with traces of blood on it.
The police officers who chased the man were also attacked by the same dogs and the man escaped, according to Mediafax.
The Police are still trying to locate the prisoner and bring him back.
