Martifer Solar opens Romanian office after singing 'large scale' solar energy project
Martifer Solar recently opened its official office in Bucharest, after having signed an agreement for a large-scale photovoltaic installation in Romania, the company has announced, without giving details about the project.
“We're one of the first players entering the Romanian photovoltaic market with this business, after having developed this business in the Balkans region,” said Pedro Pereira, Regional Manager with Martifer Solar for the Mediterranean region and executive administrator of the Romanian office.
Romania only has 2 MW of photovoltaic installations officially connected to the grid, according to Martifer. After wind energy, where major players already have a foothold, solar power is the next hot spot for Romania.
Martifer has been active in Romania since 2004, with activities in various fields, employing 500 people in the country.
The industrial group has 3,000 employees worldwide, focusing on metallic structures and solar energy. Martifer Solar posted revenues of EUR 293 million in 2011. The company implemented over 200 MW in photovoltaic energy projects in the world so far.
