MedLife buys Brasov clinic for EUR 3 mln

Local heath care operator MedLife has acquired a Brasov based clinic for a price exceeding EUR 3 million, the company has announced. MedLife has bought an 80 percent package in Policlinca de Diagnostic Rapid in Brasov, one of the biggest private health care operator in the city. The Brasov clinic brings to the network a clinic and two laboratories with a staff of 200. the local clinic posted a turnover of EUR 3 million in 2009.

MedLife also intends to open a MedLife hyperclinic in Brasov, which will include an imaginery center and a surgery hospital by the end of the year, according to Mihail Marcu, president of MedLife (in picture).

MedLife started its expansion this year with the opening of a clinic in Baneasa and plans to open two more such clinics in Bucharest by the end of year. It also plans to expand the Life Memorial hospital, open a specialized hospital in Cluj and a day surgery component in MedLife Baneasa.

MedLife expects a 40 percent increase in its turnover this year, compared to the EUR 26.2 million last year.

MedLife was opened in 1996 and runs five hyperclinics in Bucharest and across the country, five laboratories, 28 general medical centers, six specialist centers and collaborates with 100 medical clinics in Romania. It also owns life Memorial Hospital, which was opened following an investment of EUR 17 million.
