New Hilton Garden Inn hotel opens in Bucharest’s Old Town in 2017

04 March 2016

Hilton Worldwide, one of the biggest hotel operators in the world, will open its first Hilton Garden Inn hotel in Romania in 2017.

The new hotel is located in a historic building Bucharest’s Old Town, next to Romania’s National Bank’s headquarters. The unit will have 201 rooms.

The building is currently being renovated. It is owned by local company Apex Alliance 1.

“In terms of design, the Hilton Garden Inn Bucharest Old Town follows a strategy that we are developing with great success in several European cities, including Moscow, Paris, London and Szczecin, that of carefully preserving the façade of a building located in the city’s historic center, while incorporating a modern hotel in the respective construction,” said Patrick Fitzgibbon, Senior Vice President, Development, EMEA, Hilton Worldwide.

The Hilton Garden Inn brand is present in more than 100 locations in Europe, Middle East and Africa, according to John Greenleaf, Global Head, Hilton Garden Inn. New properties have been opened in Milan, Malaga, Istanbul, and Dubai in the last year.

Hilton currently operates five hotels in Romania, the best-known of which is the five-star hotel Athenee Palace Hilton near the Romanian Athenaeum.

The other Hilton hotels in Romania are Hilton Sibiu, Hampton by Hilton Cluj-Napoca, Doubletree by Hilton Oradea, and Doubletree by Hilton Bucuresti.
