New promenade area in Bucharest, alongside Unirii Boulevard, close to completion
Colored pergolas, benches, food carts, and new pavement have been installed on the promenade along the Unirii boulevard, from Alba Iulia Square leading to the Unirii Square in Bucharest. The grass is freshly cut and the trees have been trimmed on the right side of the boulevard on the direction facing the Unirii Square and the House of People.
The project, run by the District 3 city hall, is still ongoing, as only the part between the Alba Iulia Square to the Traian intersection was fully finished. Work is underway for the remainder of boulevard.
The Unirii boulevard is important, not just for the District 3, but for the whole Bucharest and for the entire Romania. I wasn’t this boulevard to become a symbol, one of the favorite places for Bucharest inhabitants,” said Robert Sorin Negoita, the Bucharest District 3 mayor upon inaugurating the project last weekend.
Work on this promenade started in the beginning of this year, and caused some controversy as some green areas were covered in pavement.
