New season kicks off for the Bucharest City Tour bus line with free rides on May 1

The double-decker buses on the Bucharest City Tour tourist line in Bucharest will re-start operation on May 1, on the same route as in previous years. The kick – off day for the seasonal tourist bus line will also bring free rides for everyone on May 1, between 10,00 and 22,00.

Last year, 44,600 people rode the Bucharest City Tour buses, a growth of 13 percent on the year before. Over half of passengers were foreigners.

The tourist line route, which is 15.4 kilometers long, includes 14 stations and takes 50 minutes. It reaches the most important tourist areas in Bucharest: the Free Press Square, the Village Museum, the Triumph Arch, Victoriei Square and Calea Victoriei, the People’s Palace, Unirii and Universitate Square, as well as Romana Square, Charles de Gaulle Plaza.

The double-decker buses have been running on the Bucharest City Tour line for the last three years, for six months a year, between May 1 and October 1.

Tariffs for this year stay the same as last year: RON 25 for a 24-hour card (or EUR 5.5) for an adult, and RON 10/card for children (some EUR 2). Children under 7 accompanied by adults get a free ride. All cards are valid for 24 hours from the first validation, and allow travelers to hop on and off the bus anywhere on the route. The card can be bought directly from the bus driver.

Audio guides in English, French, Romania, Italian, as well as maps and information about tourist areas area available on the bus, as well as free wireless internet.
