Oasis Development to build EUR 50 mln Prima Shopping Center on former Oradea factory site

21 December 2010

Oasis Development will start works on its EUR 50 million Prima Shopping Center project in Oradea in spring next year and has already leased half of the center. The mall will be located on the premises of the Infratirea factory and will cover 24,000 sqm of built area. The first phase of the project is expected to be finalized by the end of 2012. The second phase will include a 13,000 sqm hypermarket, a hotel and an office building, to be delivered by the end of 2013. Both phases will cover 70,000 sqm.

The retail project will include tenants like C&A, DM Drogherie, Kaufland and Lidl. In total, it will host 120 stores downtown Oradea. C&A will cover 1,500 sqm, while Kaufland and Lidl, the anchors of the project, will together cover 7,000 sqm. The developer expects a traffic of 25,000 visitors a day to the shopping center.

Oasis Development finalized a similar project in Sibiu during this year's summer, which was leased to do-it-yourself retailer Obi.

The developer plans to build 10 retail centers across Romania in the next ten years. Some of these projects, under the Mega Mall and Family Center brands, will be built in partnership with Real4You Immobilien.

Oasis Development has teamed up with Kaufland and Plus- the latter acquired by Lidl last year- and has developed over 50 centers for the two retailers since 2002. Oasis Development was created by Sibiu businessmen Klaus Reisenauer and Kurt Wagner.
