Online platform targets Romanian diaspora with theater performances
Content platform E-theatrum.com is targeting the Romanians living outside of the country with various Romanian-language theater performances, ranging from puppet shows to performances for adults.
The platform is subscription-based, and aims to diversify its offer in the coming period so as to encompass performances from as many theater companies in Romania as possible.
Any theater in Romania can join the platform, as can specific projects that support the “effort to keep in touch with all those who think, speak and feel Romania, regardless of where they are in the world,” the founders of the project say.
Three sections are currently available to those accessing the platform. The Stories section allows children to watch the tales of Fram, the polar bear, Puss in boots, Aladin, or the Wicked Fox, among others, while the Children’s Show section lists performances of The Cinderella, The Little Red Riding Hood or The Old Man’s Daughter and the Old Woman’s Daughter (Fata moșului și fata babei). The section dedicated to adults includes performances such as Anton Chekhov’s A Marriage Proposal, of the Ateneu Theater in Iasi, or Mihail Sebastian’s play The Star Without a Name, by the same theater company.
