Orange Romania reports revenues down 5.6% in first half of 2011

Telecom company Orange Romania's revenues decreased by 5.6 percent in the first half of the year compared to the same period last year, to EUR 457 million, according to a recently - published financial report by France Telecom, Orange's mother company. Orange Romania had revenues of EUR 484 million the first half of last year. The number of costumers also decreased by 3.3 percent, to 10.1 million.

In the second quarter, Orange Romania's revenues fell by 4.9 percent, to EUR 235 million, from EUR 247 million in the same period of 2010, showing an improved trend after the decrease of 6.3 percent recorded in the first quarter.

The results posted by the Romanian subsidiary had a EUR 33 million negative contribution in the EBITDA profit of the "Rest of World" group market segment, which includes countries in Africa, the Middle East and Europe. EBITDA is down by EUR 158 million year-on-year, to EUR 1.47 billion.
