PSA importer takes over the activity of the Opel brand in Romania
Trust Motors, the importer of PSA group brands (Peugeot, Citroen and DS Automobiles) in Romania, has announced that it will become the official importer of Opel on the local market as well.
The PSA Peugeot-Citroen Group took over German manufacturer Opel in 2017, but the two have continued to operate independently on the Romanian market.
Trust Motors, a company founded and controlled by Romanian entrepreneur Gheorghe Dolofan, has announced that it would take over the entire Opel brand business, which until now has been managed by Opel Southeast Europe LLC, based in Hungary.
Following this change, Trust Motors will become the official importer of the Opel brand on the local market.
"It is a step forward in the partnership with the PSA Group. We have a long history of fruitful collaboration. I am convinced that this takeover brings significant value to all stakeholders and will help us successfully manage the challenges of the new era of mobility and car electrification," said Andrei Iacob, CEO of Trust Motors, quoted by Economica.net.
Trust Motors is currently awaiting final approvals from the Romanian authorities before effectively integrating Opel's business into the company.
According to official data, Trust Motors had a turnover of over RON 600 million (EUR 125 mln) and a net profit of RON 24 mln (EUR 5 mln) in 2019.
Meanwhile, there's no official information about Opel's business in Romania.
