Vouchers for residential PV systems awarded quickly, more financing considered in Romania
The budget for the Bucharest metropolitan area under the Green House Photovoltaics voucher scheme was used up completely nine minutes after launch, as almost 5,000 individuals filed financing requests, according to the environment fund administration AFM.
Under the scheme, the state provides vouchers in the amount of RON 20,000 (EUR 4,000) for households that install PV systems with a capacity of at least 3kWp.
The average price of the PV systems installed by Romanian households is around RON 35,000 (EUR 7,000), and the systems generate annual benefits estimated by experts at around RON 4,000 (EUR 800).
According to official data, during 2019-2021, funds were allocated for over 55,000 PV systems under the scheme, with a total power of at least 165MWp installed. By comparison, the budget allocated in 2023 through the same project can cover about 87,500 projects in a single year.
Supplementary, Romania’s government plans to use EUR 400 mln under the RePowerEU (part of the Resilience facility) to finance a similar scheme, Economica.net reported. Technically, however, the recipients under the new scheme should get the contracts and technical permits done before applying and complete the project within the deadline imposed by the RePowerEU scheme.
