Restart Energy completes EUR 160,000 PV panel system for Romanian company Geneza Comimpex

20 June 2023

Restart Energy, a leader in energy transition services, said that it completed the implementation of a photovoltaic panel system worth EUR 160,000 for Geneza Comimpex. The project consisted of installing 428 panels on the premises of Geneza Supermarket situated in Târgu Neamț, a town in Neamț county, northeastern Romania.

Covering 1,200 square meters, the PV panels have a power of 194.4 kWp. The solar energy produced will cover approximately 80% of the company’s consumption.

The investment is to be amortized in less than five years.

“In the next 25 years, the solar panels will produce 4,750 MWh, leading to a reduction in energy costs of EUR 950,000. In this timeframe, the implementation of the photovoltaic panel system will allow Geneza Comimpex to reduce its CO2 emissions by approximately 1,500 tons and radioactive waste by approximately 15 kg,” reads the press release.

Restart Energy signed in January 2021 a partnership with the American fund Interlink Capital Strategies in Washington DC to finance the development of 500 MW of renewable projects in Romania by 2025, aiming to provide 100% green energy produced locally to all end customers.

In February of the same year, it launched the first issue of convertible green bonds in Romania that were listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange with code REO26.

Restart Energy is a leading company in energy transition services with mixed Romanian-American capital, established in 2015 in Timișoara. Last year, it developed 60 photovoltaic projects, with an installed capacity of approximately 15 MW, for companies in the industrial, retail and HoReCa sectors.

The company ended 2022 with sales of over EUR 10 million in the photovoltaic installations segment and a turnover of EUR 55 million.

Geneza Comimpex was founded in 1993 and is part of a group of companies with 100% Romanian capital. With over 30 years of activity in the non-specialized wholesale trade of food, beverages, and cigarettes, it ended 2022 with a turnover of some RON 33.4 million and 75 employees.

In addition to the retail sector, Geneza Comimpex is currently investing in a hotel located in a key area for tourism in the Neamț region, thus diversifying its activity. The company’s next major investment will be in a logistics warehouse covering distribution to stores in the region.
