A restaurant in Bucharest's Old Town caught fire and was half destroyed on Tuesday morning (February 11).

According to Romanian media, the affected restaurant is called Old City, located close to the Lipscani theater.

It took the firefighters about three hours to put out the fire at the restaurant on Blanari street, which started about 6.30 in the morning, according to Mediafax newswire.

The flames took over the ground floor, first floor and a terrace where several furniture items were stored. There were no victims however, and the cause of the fire is yet unknown.

The restaurant was closed down when the fire started, and firefighters saw the smoke from their headquarters nearby and intervened even before they got the emergency call at 112.

Data from Ziarul Financiar daily suggest the restaurants ranks among the five best selling units in the Old Town.
