Romania gets 20 medals in SEE Maths Olympiad for university students
Romanian students got 20 medals in the 9th edition of the South Eastern European Mathematical Olympiad for University Students - SEEMOUS 2015. The competition took place in Ohrid, Macedonia, between March 3 and March 8.
Romania got 4 gold medals, 7 silvers and 9 bronzes, as well as the first place among the participating nations. The Bucharest Polytechnic University took the first place among the 23 universities that entered the competition while Romanian student Viorel Andrei Bud, from the Bucharest University, got the most points of the 91 competing students.
Bud also won several international medals in international Maths Olympiads in 2013 and 2014, as a high school student.
The South Eastern European Mathematical Olympiad for University Students - SEEMOUS is a competition that gathers first- and second-year university students from countries in the SEE region. A total of 91 students from 23 schools in Bulgaria, Greece, Iran, Macedonia, Romania, Slovenia and Turkmenistan participated in this contest. They had five hours to solve four challenging problems.
