Romania has new border crossing point with Bulgaria
A new border crossing point between Romania and Bulgaria opened on Tuesday, October 3, in Lipnita commune, Constanta county.
The new crossing point, which meets the conditions for international traffic under the Schengen catalog, has control arteries for every direction - entry and exit of the country, control booths, interior spaces, and IT and technical equipment, according to a press release from the Romanian Border Police.
The Lipnita-Kainardja checkpoint is open to international passenger traffic as well as international cargo traffic up to a total weight of 3.5 tonnes. However, the transport of hazardous materials, live animals and products subject to phytosanitary control is not allowed through this new crossing point. The operating program is 08:00 to 20:00.
The new border point joins the other nine road checkpoints open to international traffic at the Romanian border with Bulgaria.
The length of Romania's border with Bulgaria is 631.3 km. The crossing points open to international traffic at the border with Bulgaria have been transited this year by over 6.2 million passengers (about 5 million of whom are EU citizens and 1.2 million non-EU citizens). Some 2.4 vehicles also crossed the Romanian-Bulgarian border this year.
