Over 84 million transactions in Romanian currency lei have been carried out online this year in Romania, according to the Communications Minister. Their value amounted to RON 1,600 billion (EUR 358 billion).

The number of online payments in euro has exceeded 5 million, and their value totaled EUR 62.4 billion, reports local Agerpres.

Most of the online payments in lei have been concluded via the Internet Banking system (71.9 million), followed by Home Banking (11.18 million), and Mobile Banking (over 960,000).

The online payments made via the Internet Banking system accounted for EUR 305 billion whereas the Home Banking system totaled payments of EUR 57.2 billion.
