Romanian banks’ profit margins on local currency operations go up
The local lenders’ net interest margin on the segment of outstanding loans and deposits in lei grew by nine basis points month-on-month to 4.87% in February.
The average interest rate on loans went up by three basis points to 6.04% whereas the interest rate on deposits went down by six basis points to 1.17% reaching a historical low, reports local Economica.net.
The net interest margin on the segment of new loans and deposits in lei rose by twelve basis points month-on-month to 4.87%.
The interest rate on loans reached 5.76% whereas the interest rate on deposits amounted to 0.89% reaching a historical low.
