Romanian cosmetics producer ups turnover, completes new investment
Romanian cosmetics producer Cosmetic Plant ended the first nine months of the year with a turnover of some EUR 1.6 million, 20% higher than in the same period of last year.
The growth was mainly supported by a wider distribution network, a higher number of hypermarket chains that collaborate with the company, and a larger range of Cosmetic Plant products sold in partner shops. The company also increased its exports by 145% when compared to the first nine months of 2014.
For the entire year, Cosmetic Plant estimates a turnover of EUR 2 million, up by 20% year-on-year.
“In the first part of the year, we started exporting to new countries such as Jordan, Portugal and Moldova, while in the second part we focused on strengthening the relationships with the existing foreign partners,” said Susana Laszlo, general manager Cosmetic Plant.
The company also completed a new investment in upgrading the production line of the plant in Cluj-Napoca. The project, co-financed by the European Union, implied the purchase of modern machinery.
“The investment in the two machines amounted to EUR 160,000 and will have a strong impact on the company’s business in the future. The tube filling machine will increase the capacity on this segment by 60% while the sachet filling machine will help us increase our visibility through sampling campaigns,” Laszlo said.
Last year, the company carried out another investment of some EUR 135,000, which also aimed at increasing the production capacity and upgrading the existing line. This investment was also co-financed with EU funds.
Cosmetic Plant is a family business established in 1991 in Cluj-Napoca. Pharmacist Ileana Mester founded the company.
