Romanian electro-IT market tops EUR 2 billion
The sales of technical consumer goods in Romania increased by 13.7% last year, to over EUR 2 billion, according to the Gfk TEMAX index, developed by market research company Gfk.
The local electro-IT market is still below the 2008 level of EUR 2.47 billion.
Four of the seven segments of the market which Gfk analyses in this research posted two-digit increases in sales and only two categories had lower results.
The telecommunication equipment segment had the highest increase last year, of 25.3%, reaching EUR 591 million in sales. Sales of consumer electronics went up by 19.3%, to EUR 348 million.
On the other hand, the photography equipment segment declined by 21%, to EUR 31 million.
The Romanian Technical Consumer goods market had the best fourth quarter in the last six years, with revenues of EUR 723 million, an increase of 13.7% compared to the same period of 2013. This is the highest sales level since the fourth quarter of 2008.
