Romanian energy system needs EUR 100 mln investments in 2015-2035

08 December 2014

The Romanian energy system needs investments of around EUR 100 million between 2015 and 2035, according to the National Energy Strategy recently launched for public debate by the Department for Energy.

“In order to attract new investments in the energy sector, Romania must ensure a stable, predictable and transparent market through strategies and public policies and the removal of 80 possible barriers in attracting investors. We consider that the necessary investments in the Romanian energy sector amount, between 2015 and 2035, to some EUR 100 million. This context requires the development of a priority policy to stimulate investments in energy, policies that could facilitate the implementation of specific measures. Transforming the energy sector must be supported by significant investments over the next decade, mainly in energy efficiency, new capacities of energy production, transport and distribution, as well as upgrading and increasing the efficiency of the existing ones,” reads the document, cited by local Agerpres.
