Romanian gets EUR 280,000 all-inclusive scholarship from New York University

A Romanian high – school senior has won a EUR 70,000 scholarship a year from the New York University, for an essay she wrote about her passion for writing. The American university has pledged an all-inclusive scholarship for four years for Romanian Paula Dosza from Bucharest, according to Digi24.ro.

The EUR 280,000 scholarship will cover tuition, accommodation, medical insurance, per diem, as well as return flights to Romania, and week-end trips anywhere in the world, according to Digi24.ro.

The Romanian detailed her history with writing in her essay, from the first words, to learning how to write on the computer, then subtitling movies, and then volunteering, according to Digi24.ro.
With this scholarship, Paula ca choose any curriculum in the first two years, without specializing in anything. Only 1 percent of those who apply for the New York University are accepted.

There was a 45 percent rise in undergraduate applications from 2002 to 2012 from 29,581 to 42,807 for the American University. In 2012, international students made 12 percent of NYU’s student body. The 2013 freshman class was 18 percent international from a record-breaking 87 countries, according to the university. In 2012, the university offered USD 185 million in institutional aid for students.
