Romanian tennis ace Simona Halep, the current number four in the WTA ranking of the best women’s tennis players in the world, qualified to the semifinals of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships. She beat Russian Ekaterina Makarova (no. 9 WTA) in three sets, ended 6-3, 1-6, 7-5.

Halep, the Dubai tournament’s main favorite, managed to take her revenge on Makarova, who had beat her in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open one month ago. The Russian won that match 6-4, 6-0 and reached the final of the tournament.

Now, it’s Halep’s turn to dream of another final. She will probably face Polish Caroline Wozniacki in the semifinals.

Halep already got 350 WTA points for reaching the semi-finals and a check for USD 114,000. If she wins the tournament, she could get 900 WTA points and regain the third place in the ranking.
