Romanian Horia Tecau reaches new career high in ATP doubles ranking
Romania’s tennis player Horia Tecau (picture, left) went up two places in ATP’s doubles ranking, making it to the podium, on the third position. This is a new career high for the Romanian player.
“Thanks to all my partners and the staff I worked with in this journey, but also to the supporters, today I reached a career high number 3! Honored to be part of this select group of players,” Tecau wrote in a Facebook post.
With 6,990 points, Horia Tecau is at number 3 in the ranking, after Americans Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan (9,490 points). The top 10 is completed by Tecau's doubles partner, Dutchman Jean-Julien Rojer, Brazilian Marcelo Melo, Croatian Ivan Dodig, Australian John Peers, Brit Jamie Murray, Pole Marcin Matkowski, and Frenchman Pierre-Hugues Herbert.
Horia Tecau and Jean-Julien Rojer made it to the quarterfinals of this year’s US Open tournament. Their best performance was winning the Wimbledon.
Romanian Florin Mergea is at number 14 in ATP’s doubles ranking, with 4,700 points.
In the singles ranking, Marius Copil, 24, is the best-ranked Romanian. He is at number 182, with 264 points. Serbian Novak Djokovic ranks first with 16,145 points, followed by Roger Federer with 9,405 points, and Andy Murray with 8,660 points.
