Romanian power producers get higher prices for energy delivered to households
Romanian power producers Hidroelectrica and Nuclearelectrica have obtained higher prices for the energy they will deliver to the regulated market next year.
The regulated market includes the household and small enterprise consumers and the electricity prices on this segment are set by the state.
Romania’s Energy Authority ANRE, the market regulator, has approved a 5.51% price increase for the electricity delivered by Hidroelectrica to the regulated market and a 2.57% price hike for Nuclearelectrica, compared to this year.
The largest Romanian power producer Hidroelectrica will deliver 1.7 TWh on the regulated market at a price of EUR 26.7 per MWh. Nuclearelectrica, which operates the country's nuclear power plant at Cernavoda, will deliver 1.45 TWh, at a price of EUR 36.1 per MWh.
However, the final price of electricity on the regulated market will decrease by 3.5% in 2016, mainly due to the lower distribution tariffs and the VAT rate cut from 24% to 20%, according to ANRE.
