Romanian tennis player qualifies for doubles in ATP World Tour Finals

More good news from Romania from the tennis department, after Simona Halep’s performances in the last weeks: Romanian tennis player Horia Tecău (29) and his doubles partner Jean-Julien Rojer (32) qualified for the ATP World Tour Finals in London. They hold the 5th position in the qualification rankings for the World Tour Finals. The duo beat the Polish-Swedish pair Lukasz Kubot/Robert Lindstedt in the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 in Paris. Lindstedt was Tecău’s doubles partner in 2011 and 2012 at the Champions’ Tournament, when they only made to the groups stage.

Tecău and Rojer will meet the pair Eric Butorac/Raven Klaasen (US/South Africa) in the quarter finals of the French Masters.

In their first full season as a team, Rojer and Tecau have compiled a 47-20 match record and won a career-high eight titles from nine finals, according to ATP. They won in Zagreb, Casablanca, Bucharest, ‘s-Hertogenbosch, Washington D.C., Shenzhen, Beijing and last week in Valencia, and also finished as runners-up at Rotterdam.

The top 8 players and the top 7 doubles teams at the end of the regular season will qualify for the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals.
