Romanian to play the Australian Open mixed doubles final
Romanian tennis player Horia Tecau and American Coco Vandeweghe have qualified on Friday, January 29, in the mixed doubles final at Australian Open.
In the semifinal, the two defeated the duo made of Treat Huey (Philippines) and Andreja Klepac (Slovenia) 6-4, 6-4. Tecau and Vandeweghe will meet the Brazilian-Russian duo Bruno Soares/Elena Vesnina.
Horia Tecau has played two mixed doubles finals at the Australian Open, one of which he won in 2012 together with Bethanie Mattek-Sands. Two years later, in 2014, he played another final with Indian Sania Mirza.
At this year’s Australian Open, Tecau also reached the quarterfinals in the men’s doubles competition, together with Dutch Jean-Julien Rojer. However, they were eliminated by French duo Adrian Mannarino/Lucas Pouille.
