Romanians pay EUR 880,000 to watch movies in cinemas on Christmas break

Romanians spent over EUR 880,000 on tickets to movie theaters between Christmas and New Year's Eve last year, with 'Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows' holding the first spot in the box office, according to a calculation made by Romania-Insider.com, based on data from Cinemagia.

The sequel to Sherlock Holmes brought revenues of EUR 280,000 between December 26 and January 1 in Romania and had over 81,000 viewers. Then came the latest 'Mission Impossible' movie, with revenues of EUR 144,000 and 39,000 spectators. 'Puss in boots' generated revenues of EUR 137,000 and was watched by 32,000 Romanians.

'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo', based on on one of the books of the popular Millenium Trilogy, was the second most popular movie during the week-end between Christmas and the New Year's Eve, with revenues of EUR 36,500.
