Romanians plan to spend a third of their income on Christmas presents

Romanians plan to spend a third of their average monthly income for Christmas gifts, namely EUR 110. It is the highest share among the 14 countries included in a survey carried out by ING group.

The Brits will spend on average EUR 420 for presents whereas the Americans will pay about EUR 360, or some 15% of their average monthly revenues.

ING interviewed 13,000 people in 12 European countries, the USA and Australia. Dutch people plan to spend on average only EUR 40 for presents, or just 1% of their revenues, while in Germany, people will allocate about EUR 200 for Christmas gifts. The Poles will give about EUR 70, whereas Czechs plan to spend about EUR 180 on average.

Romanians will spend most compared to their income, followed by the Czechs.
