Romania’s international reserves reach EUR 37.2 billion in December 2011

Romania’s international reserves, including foreign currencies and gold, amounted to EUR 37.2 billion at the end of December 2011, up from EUR 36 billion at the end of November, according to Romania’s Central Bank (BNR). The gold stock was of 103.7 tonnes and, following the change in the international price of gold, its value amounted to around EUR 4 billion.

Moreover, BNR’s foreign exchange reserves stood at EUR 33.19 billlion at December 31, compared to EUR 31.7 billion on end-November 2011.

The inflows amounted to EUR 1.9 billion in December 2011, while the outflows were of EUR 545 million, according to BNR.

During January 2012, the payments due on public and publicly guaranteed foreign currency denominated debt amounts to EUR 142 million.
