Romania's IT system for European funds, operational from mid-January

10 December 2015

The IT system for the 2014-2020 European funds will become operational starting January 15, next year, reads a press release of the Ministry of European Funds.

When Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos took over his office at the end of November, he discovered that the IT system for the 2014-2020 Regional Operational Programme didn’t function. He also found that the EU funds program for the 2007-2013 financing period was blocked following an audit of the European Commission.

The Ministry of European Funds is currently working on simplifying the guidelines and application procedure for EU funds.

The EU Funds Minister Aura Carmen Raducu met on Tuesday with members of the National Coalition for Romania’s Modernization (CNMR). They warned the minister that any delay in starting the new financial exercise would bring Romania losses both socially and economically.
