Romania’s new PM changes one of his ministers due to lingerie model past

16 November 2015

Romania’s appointed Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos changed his nomination for one of the key positions in his cabinet on Sunday, only hours after he announced his ministers list.

Ciolos had to withdraw the nomination of 29-years old Andrei Baciu for the Ministry of Health, due to the controversies that appeared after the announcement. Photos of Baciu posing as a lingerie model have been distributed on Facebook.

At the same time, many doctors and hospital managers were taken aback by the nomination. They argued that Andrei Baciu didn’t have the training or the experience for such an important position.

Baciu graduated from Bucharest’s Carol Davila University of Medicine in 2011 and worked as a resident in thoracic surgery for at several hospitals in Bucharest and Rouen, France. He currently leads an association called SOS Patients’ Rights.

Dacian Ciolos second nomination for the Ministry of Health is Patriciu Achimaş-Cadariu, the chief of the Oncology Institute in Cluj-Napoca. The 39-year old doctor has been managing the institute for three years. He’s also an associate professor at the University of Medicine in Cluj-Napoca.
