SEEFest film festival opens today in LA, Romanian director Tudor Giurgiu appearing in person
Films from Southern and Eastern Europe, including Romania, are featuring in Los Angeles film festival SEEFest, starting today (May 2) and running until May 6. Romanian comedy Of Snails and Men, directed by Tudor Giurgiu (in picture) will open the festival this evening at the Writers Guild Theater in Beverly Hills, LA, and the director himself will be making an appearance.
Another Romanian film Somewhere in Palilula, described as “visually stunning” by the festival organizers, will also be shown on Saturday, May 4, at the Goethe-Institut. Tudor Giurgiu will be making another appearance, this time in his capacity as the film's producer.
The festival is featuring cinema from across the region, including films from Greece, Bosnia, Albania, Moldova, Bulgaria, Serbia, Slovenia and Turkey.
The festival will take place in several screening locations: Writers Guild Theater in Beverly Hills, Goethe Institute in Los Angeles, West Hollywood City Council Chambers in West Hollywood, Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles, and UCLA James Bridges Theater in Westwood. Passes for the entire festival are USD 50 for students and USD 75 for the rest. For the opening ceremony and the screening of the Romanian film, tickets cost USD 15.
