Short feature by Romanian director Vlad Fenesan selected for NY Indie Film Festival, amid US, German, French films

Romanian short film Detasamentul Orb/The Blind Squad, directed by Vlad Fenesan, was recently selected for the New York Indie Film Festival which will take place in October 2013.

The Romanian short film is one of the 32 films selected for this year, and one of the few European films amid a majority of US productions. Germany, Spain, UK, and France are the other European countries represented in the film selection. The entire film selection for 2013 is here.

The 28-minute film produced by Castel Film tells the story of Matthew, a 23-year old still living with his mother, who lands a job taking care of seven blind men at a military unit, and who slowly tries to introduce the outside world to the group of seven who call themselves the Blind Squad.

NYC Independent Film Festival provides a showcase for the best in independent cinema, including short films, feature films, music videos, and animated works. With panels, parties and a weekend long gathering of fellow indie filmmakers, the festival will take place between October 18 and 20, 2013. Info on tickets for this event can be found here.

His short feature The Blind Squad was supported by the National Film Council, which offered the financing, about EUR 80,000, in 2010-2011. Fenesan also directed several music videos for the Romanian band Robin and the Backstabbers - SPNZRTR and Marele Zgomot.
