Six Canadian CF-18 Hornet airplanes and troops arrive in Romania for five-month joint military drills
Six CF-18 Hornet airplanes and their staff from the Canadian Royal Army arrived yesterday in Romania, at Campia Turzii, where they will run joint military exercises with Romanian troops under the NATO umbrella. Exercises will last for more than five months, and will include air battle missions, air defense covered by CF-18 and Mig 21 Lancer.
“Canada is determined to contribute to security and stability in the area, together with Romania and other NATO allies,” said Canadian ambassador to Romania, Joanne Lemay, who attended the opening ceremony for the joint military exercises.
The Canadian – Romanian drill will involve 230 Canadian troops; the first 30 of them already arrived yesterday.
