Study: 20% of Romanians watch football matches on TV, women make 11% of viewers

Over 45 percent of Romania’s urban population constantly read news about Romanian football in newspapers and magazines, while 43 percent choose to be updated with information about the international football, according to a recent study conducted by the Romanian Audit Bureau Transmedia (BRAT).

The study also reveals that 20 percent of Romanians choose to particularly watch football matches on TV, and 11 percent of the viewers are women. Over 58 percent of the respondents say they usually watch football matches on TV, while 32.3 percent listen sports shows on the radio.

According to the study, 18.3 percent of men and just 1.7 percent of women are particularly interested in newspapers and magazines about international football. When it comes to interest for the Romanian football, 24.3 percent of men and 1.5 percent of women particularly follow this subject.

Bucharest residents have the greatest interest in Romanian football - over 16 percent choose information about football instead of other content, followed by those living in Muntenia region - 15.1 percent, and Banat region - 12.7 percent, shows the study.
