Subscriptions for George Enescu festival in Romania sold out in record time

15 January 2015

The subscriptions for the 2015 edition of the George Enescu festival in Romania sold out in 10 minutes on ticketing site eventim.ro, the festival’s organisers announced.

The subscriptions for the concerts that will take place at the Romanian Athenaeum were sold in just 10 seconds, while those for the concerts at the Palace Hall (Sala Palatului) were bought in 10 minutes.

A total of 500 subscriptions were put for sale for the concerts at the Romanian Athenaeum and 1,250 subscriptions were sold for the concerts at the Palace Hall. These represent about a third of all the available places.

The subscriptions started selling on Thursday, January 15, at 10:00 AM. Almost 1,000 visitors were logged on the site just before that.

“Our statistics show that an average order placed on the Eventim website was for 2.8 subscriptions,” said Valentin Vasiloiu, Eventim’s manager. “From the traffic we had on Eventim, we can estimate that the demand was ten times higher than the number of tickets sold,” he added.

The George Enescu Festival will take place between August 30 and September 20 in Bucharest, Cluj, Iasi, Brasov and Ploiesti. It will bring together big names of classical music, such as: American classical violinist Sarah Chang, Polish-Hungarian pianist Piotr Anderszewski, Turkish pianist and composer Fazil Say, American pianist Murray Perahia, German pianist Christian Zacharias, the Berliner Philarmonicker, the San Francisco Symphony – in premiere in Romania, the London Symphony Orchestra, the Sankt Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestre de Chamber Paris, the Bayerische Staatsoper, the Konzerthaus Orchester Berlin, the Monte Carlo Philharmonic, the Wiener Philharmoniker, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, the Mozarteumorchester from Salzburg, among others.
