Survey: Romanians are generous at gift-giving this Christmas
Seven out of 10 Romanians (69%) will give Christmas gifts but 22% will not engage in this activity, while 46% of Romanians consider Christmas an opportunity to stay with the family, according to a survey from the The Centre for the Studying of Market and Opinion (CSOP)
Sweets, food and alcoholic beverages (54%), toys (49%) and apparel (43%) are the top three product categories destined for gifts. eEntertainment products (films/music/games, 3%), appliances (6%) and jewellery (7%) rank last.
For the Christmas dinner this year, 56% of the respondents said they will spend similar amounts to 2013, while 19% will spend more. About 55% of the Romanians will spend for the Christmas dinner a maximum of RON 300 (EUR 67), 17% have a RON 300-500 (EUR 67-111) budget, and only 14% plan to spend more than RON 500 (EUR 111).
