Austrian crystal producer Swarovski has taken into account producing in Romania, at Cluj, according to Romanian newspaper Adevarul, quoting market sources.  The producer could sign the lease on over 3,500 sqm of space in Tetarom I industrial park near Cluj, or in Tetarom III, where Finish telephony producer Nokia is also active. If negotiations are successful, Swarovski could invest EUR 10 million and hire 500 people for the local production facility, according to Adevarul.

Swarovski group posted a turnover of EUR 2.25 billion last year and its crystal business covered EUR 1.9 million of that.  The company runs 1014 boutiques and concessions and also has 819 partner-operated boutiques in the world. The company was set up 100 years ago.
