Timisoara City Hall inaugurated on April 1 the free e-scooter rental system, a program that required RON 125,000 investment (EUR 27,000).

There are 25 scooters available as of now, plus the system needed to park them. One hundred more scooters will be added.

The first scooter was rented by mayor Nicolae Robu.

"There are 25 scooters in the system for the beginning, but we have planned to buy 100 more this year. We will see what the degree of use is, of course we have expectations that it will be very high, otherwise we would have not started the project. The scooters can go up to 25 km/h and have autonomy of 30 kilometers. They are taken free of charge by users, based on the subscriber's card, in one way or another, including with a student scheme at the Timisoara Public Transport Company," Robu said.
