02 December 2015

Transylvania College, the only school in Romania accredited for Romanian and Cambridge curriculum, has been selected among the four best British international schools in the world, at the annual TES Awards, whose winners were announced on November 27. TES is the biggest teachers' community in the world, with over 3.6 million members.

The Cluj-Napoca-based school is the only education institution in Europe that joined the shortlist of four schools in this year “British international school of the year” category. The other three schools are the Alice Smith School in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), the British School in Tokyo (Japan), and the British School in Jakarta (Indonesia), which won this year's award.

The TES Awards acknowledge the most remarkable independent schools in the UK. The awards also include a section dedicated to international British schools, whose shortlist also included the Transylvania College in Romania.

Within a period of 20 years, Transylvania College has taught some 600 students (70% from Romania and 30% from 25 countries worldwide), has granted 150 scholarships for children with exceptional academic results, and has had 100 teachers from the UK, Romania, Germany, New Zealand, Mauritius, and Australia.

Romanian entrepreneurs Simona and Dan Baciu are the founders of Transylvania College Foundation, which launched the "Happy Kids" kindergarten and "Transylvania College. The Cambridge International School in Cluj".
