Vodafone brings Ravinder Takkar to lead Romanian subsidiary starting this spring

The CEO of Vodafone Partner Markets, Indian Ravinder Takkar, will be the new head of the telecom company's Romanian subsidiary starting May 1. The naming comes after Inaki Berroeta took the helm of Vodafone Hutchinson Australia in the beginning of March. The CEO position for Romania will be held by Giovanni Chiarelli, as interim, until Takkar takes over. Chiarelli will also continue as Chief Technical Officer.

Takkar, 45, has been leading Vodafone's Partner Markets division since January 2012. he joined Vodafone in 1994 and has held several positions within the group.

Of Indian origin, Takkar is an American citizen. He is an IT graduate from the Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. He will move to Romania together with his family, according to the telecom provider.

Telecom company Vodafone Romania posted service revenues of EUR 177 million in the last quarter of 2013, a growth of 0.4 percent on the same period of 2012, according to the company.

Revenues from mobile data went up by 22.3 percent during the last quarter of 2013, when the average revenue per user – ARPU – was of EUR 6.4, which was a drop of 5.3 percent.

End – 2013, Vodafone had 8.3 million clients – counted as active SIM cards-, a growth of 132,000 clients compared to the third quarter of the same year. Post – paid – or subscriptions – made 40 percent of the client base, and the rest were pre-paid card users.
