Romania’s volume of construction works decreased in the first eight months of the year compared to the same period in 2012, according to the country’s Statistics Office INS.

Between January and August 2013, the volume of construction works, gross series, recorded a year-on-year decrease of 0.6 percent. By structural elements, new construction works went down 10 percent, while increases were recorded in the case of capital repair works - up 29.3 percent and maintenance works - up 16.5 percent.

In adjusted series, based on working days and seasonality, the volume of construction works went down 2.8 percent in the first eight months of the year against the same period in 2012.

In August, Romania’s volume of construction works, gross series, went up 1.4 percent compared to the previous month, and 7.7 percent against august 2012, according to INS.

In adjusted series, construction works went slightly down in August compared to July this year.
