Which are the legal holidays in Romania in 2015?

05 January 2015

Romania has 13 legal holidays in 2015, two of which, January 1 and January 2 have already passed. The next legal holiday is January 24, when the Union of the Romanian Principalities is celebrated, but this is on a Saturday, which is anyway free.

The Orthodox Easter is celebrated on April 12 this year and Monday, April 13 (second day of Easter) is also a free day.

Then comes Labour Day, on May 1, which is on a Friday. This makes it perfect for a longer weekend at the seaside or in the mountains.

The Rusalii or the Descent of the Holy Spirit will be celebrated on Sunday, May 31, and Monday, June 1, is also a legal holiday.

The next legal holiday is the Assumption (August 15), which is on a Saturday this year.

Saint Andrew (November 30) is on a Monday and is followed by Romania’s National Day (December 1), on a Tuesday, which makes another long weekend.

However, Christmas is on a Friday and the second day of Christmas, which is also a legal holiday, will be on Saturday. This means that the Christmas holiday will be shorter this year.
