Three energy companies, four telecoms, a carmaker, an investment fund and a bank are Romania’s ten most valuable companies, according to this year’s edition of the Top 100 Most Valuable Companies in Romania ranking made by Ziarul Financiar, the country’s leading financial newspaper, and Capital Partners investment house.

The top 100 companies in Romania were valued at EUR 55 billion in 2014, almost EUR 5 billion more than in 2013, but are still far from the record level of EUR 100 billion in 2007.

Here’s the list of the largest 10 companies in Romania by market value:

1. OMV Petrom - EUR 5.49 billion, oil&gas

2. Romgaz – EUR 2.99 billion, natural gas

3. Fondul Proprietatea – EUR 2.65 billion, investment fund

4. Hidroelectrica – EUR 2.43 billion, electricity production

5. Orange Romania – EUR 2.40 billion, telecom

6. Automobile Dacia – EUR 1.78 billion, car industry

7. Vodafone Romania – EUR 1.77 billion, telecom

8. RCS&RDS – EUR 1.27 billion, telecom

9. BRD-SocGen – EUR 1.25 billion, bank

10. Telekom Romania Communications – EUR 1.16 billion, telecom
