Which local personalities do Romanians trust the most?

Increasingly more Romanians trust the country’s President Klaus Iohannis. According to a recent INSCOP survey conducted in February this year, 64.6% of Romanians have confidence and great confidence in Iohannis, up from 60% in December 2014.

Central Bank governor Mugur Isarescu comes next in the top with a share of 42.1% - down from 45.7% in December, followed by Prime Minister Victor Ponta with 24.5% - down from 26.1%.

The top 10 continues with Bucharest Mayor Sorin Oprescu with 22.2% (against 23% in December), former director of Romania’s Intelligence Service SRI George Maior – 21.8% (19% in December), former Prime Minister Calin Popescu Tariceanu – 19% (22.5% in December), former President Traian Basescu – 17.8% (20.7% in December), former Prime Minister Mihai Razvan Ungureanu – 17.1% (19% in December), former president of the Senate Mircea Geoana – 16.8% (18.2% in December) and Presidency candidate Monica Macovei – 16.3% (15.6% in December).

Next on the list are, in this order, former Minister of Justice Catalin Predoiu, president of the National Liberal Party PNL Alina Gorghiu, former PNL president Crin Antonescu, PNL co-president Vasile Blaga, former Prime Minister Theodor Stolojan, former Prime Minister Emil Boc, former President Ion Iliescu, former deputy Prime Minister Liviu Dragnea, Minister of Transport Ioan Rus, former Tourism Minister Elena Udrea, MEP Laszlo Tokes and the president of the Democratic Union of Hungarians in Romania Kelemen Hunor.

The survey was conducted between February 5 and February 10 on a sample of 1,066 people, at the request of local newspaper Adevarul.
