Winner of Romanian Metrorex auction for 51 new trains, announced next spring
Bucharest metro operator Metrorex has postponed until March the results of the bid for 51 new trains for the fifth metro line, Drumul Taberei-Pantelimon, reports local Mediafax. The contract was estimated at EUR 440 million with VAT.
Metrorex received offers from Alstom (France), CAF (Spain), CSR (China), Pesa (Poland) and Astra Vagoane (Romania).
“Given the complexity of the offers, it was necessary to postpone the designation of the winner until no later than March 10,” Catalin Homor, director of investment and public procurement within Metrorex, told local news agency Mediafax.
Metrorex’ latest acquisition included the purchase of 16 trains from Spanish company CAF.
