Wizz Air brings fifth aircraft to Iasi base in eastern Romania

19 May 2023

Wizz Air said on May 18 that it would bring a 5th aircraft to support its operations in Iasi, eastern Romania.

The low-cost carrier started operations in Iasi in December 2014 and has registered over 4.5 million passengers who booked tickets over nine years of successful operations. Recently, the Hungarian company suspended operations from the Republic of Moldova on security concerns, and the base in Iasi could benefit from customers from the neighbouring country.

The fifth aircraft to join the base in Iasi by the end of this year will provide over 500,000 additional seats per year to the Romanian market, offering more travel alternatives.

In total, Wizz Air now operates 24 low-fare routes from Iasi to 13 countries in Europe, continuously investing in the development of its network.

The airline connects Iasi with the following cities: Brussels, Larnaca, Billund, Copenhagen, Basel, Paris, Dortmund, Memmingen, Tel-Aviv, Bologna, Catania, Milan, Rome, Turin, Venice, Eindhoven, Liverpool, London, Barcelona and Madrid, successfully operating the newly launched routes to Istanbul and Berlin.
