The World Bank has not changed its 2.6% estimate issued in January regarding the growth rate that would be recorded this year by Romania's economy, according to the latest edition of the "Global Economic Prospects" report published on June 6.

The WB expects Romania's economy to slow down this year from the 4.7% growth reported in 2022. It has also revised down from 4.2% to 3.9% the expectations for next year's growth.

In its latest World Economic Outlook report, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) estimated in April that Romania's real economic growth will moderate to 2.4% in 2023. The figure is lower than estimated in the autumn forecast (+3.1%). In 2024, the country's GDP is expected to increase by 3.7%.

Both the IMF and WB are slightly more pessimistic compared to European Commission, which sees Romania's economy growing by 3.2% this year (and 3.9% in 2024), under the Spring Forecast issued in mid-May.
