A Bucharest – Brasov 170 -kilometer memorial walk will be organized from September 28, over five days. The Alex Gradinaru Memorial Walk is being held in memory of 19-year old rugby player Alex Gradinaru, from Brasov, who has died from spinal injuries.

Car traffic will be stopped on several streets downtown Bucharest today for the planned street rally. Traffic on Calea Victoriei, between Victoriei Square and Dem. I Dobrescu St. will be shut down, but cars will still be able to cross the intersections with Gheorghe Manu St., Dacia boulevard and Ion Campineanu St.

Around 17.5 percent of the Romanians would vote for opposition Liberal (PNL) leader Crin Antonescu and 15.2 percent for Social Democratic (PSD, in opposition) chairman Victor Ponta if presidential elections were to be held next Sunday, reveals a survey conducted by the Group for Social Studies (GSS) 2000 that was commissioned by the PNL.

The Romanian telecommunications and postal services market reached EUR 4.4 billion at the end of 2009, according to data from the National Authority for Management and Regulation in Communications, based on the annual financial statements submitted by the operators.
